Travel Travails

I’ve come home for my mother’s birthday this weekend. I was exhausted and grouchy from the trip home and the advisor meeting I’d had at CSU yesterday. Apparently it is going to take over two years for me to get all the classes in that are necessary to get a teacher’s license. Then, when I left the Rhodes Tower, I discovered that you aren’t allowed to park at the meters from 4:00–6:30, resulting in a $35 parking ticket, then, rush hour traffic. So I ended up on the road a full hour later than I’d anticipated. I was getting sleepy around 6, so I stopped and picked up some Vitamin Water “Energy”. The good thing about having a low caffeine intake means a little goes a long way. The bad thing is that I could taste the bitterness of the caffeine and guarana in my drinks. In addition to the Vitamin Water, I ate half a box of chocolate frosted donettes. I finally made it home and had a bowl of sausage and potato soup, made by my mother. Then I slept for 12 hours. Now that I’m awake, it is time to wash the vinyl siding.

  1. A few things, unrelated to this post:
    * You RSS feed isn’t working. It’s still pulling the old site.
    * Your right hand links don’t seem to work in Safari. I don’t know if they’re meant to not appear until moused over (at which time they do appear)…
    * Your type is kinda big in Safari (like approx 14–15 pt or so. ) Don’t know if this is intentional or not.

Related to your post, I didn’t know you wanted to be a teacher. Best of luck with it! So you going to go to school PT while working at West? I know someone who had a good gig working teaching english in the evenings and west during the day, which he was able to parlay into a job working overseas teaching english (as a second languge, of course). Dunno if you’d be interested in that.

I think the bitterness you tasted was your own, not the pills 😉

  2. Hey Patrick, thanks for the heads up. The type looks big or small depending on the type of computer you are on. On my mom’s laptop it looks like 12pt, on mine it looks like 10pt, and on macs it looks huge apparently. It all depends on your browser settings I think. I’ll check out the RSS when I get back home, but the feed is different now since I’m on wordpress. You might need to change your link. Hope NYC is treating you nice.

  3. The problem isn’t with a link. When you setup a blog on Bloglines (or some such site, Bloglines is what we use) and put in the URL, it automatically finds the RSS feed. The URL https://www.organicmechanic.org is still producing the RSS feed of the old blog (or simply nothing from the new one).

Don’t mean to bother you with problems 😉 just trying to help debug the site.

  4. That is interesting. Try changing the URL to organicmechanic.org/feed/ and see if that works. That’s the only thing I can think of. It works for me on Thunderbird.
